New details for "Injustice 2" will feature online multiplayer, loot drops, character customizations and more, as well as a possible release date for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
NetherRealm Studios was in attendance at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event this week as they showcased several gameplay videos for "Injustice 2" from the six playable characters and new stages to the new finishers and character customization.
"Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon stated in several interviews from gaming websites such as Gamespot and IGN that gamers will have a new experience in "Injustice 2" as Boon revealed that gamers can customize the appearance of each DC superhero and villain such as Superman, Batman, Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd and more. NetherRealm Studios incorporated a loot drop system that player's can collect for their character after each battled whether they win or lose. Ofcourse the winner will get more loot drops than the loser in the fight and Boon explained that it is up to the player of they choose to have this armor or not.
"Injustice 2's" character customization will not just altering their character's appearance, but it also affects the way they fight as each armor and gear can enhance their abilities or unlock a new skill that this character has not yet been revealed. Boon stated that this is what the foundation they are building for th sequel as the tagline "Each Battle Defines You", justifies how they will feel about the changes of their selected hero and villain in each battle, Gamerant reported.
In addition, Boon revealed that the GGPO netcode that they used for "Injustice 2's" online multiplayer is the one used in "Mortal Kombat XL" as they applied what they have learned from the game and use it to develop "Injustice 2" online rollback.
Rollback is when netcode examines the actions performed by players, determines the right ones, and amends inaccuracies. GGPO uses this and is well liked by the fighting game community for its better quality connections in online multiplayer.
"Injustice 2's" gameplay is relatively the same as the first game as each character has two life bars and new environmental attacks. Each character will have a special skill such Supergirl's heat vision, Grodd's mental abilities being enhanced by his helmet and Atrocitus can summon Dex-Starr during battle. There are also new brutal finishing moves for each character as NetherRealm will not incorporate any "Fatality" finishing moves for the sequel.
New characters may be coming soon as previosu reports revealed that Boon ist teasing Green Lanter, Wonder Woman, Captain Cold, Swamp Thing, Blue Beetle and Doctor Fate in the game.
NetherRealm has not yet announced the release date for "Injustice 2", but French video game website Gameblog stated that the sequel might launch on May 2017. Although, the game may be subject to change when game studio decides to delay its launch date.
"Injustice 2" will be release sometime in 2017 for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
