Reports has been steadily circulating recently that graphics card manufacturer Nvidia is already handing out exclusive invites for the company's big event which will take place on March 3.
Nvidia did not provide additional information about what will be tackled in the event but many analysts' suspects that the company is setting the stage for the release of the new Tegra processor. If these rumors are true, Nvidia may be joining the war between tech giants Sony and Microsoft in the ongoing fight for dominance over the gaming hardware industry.
The invite came from Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang himself and reads, " I would like to invite you to attend a very special event on March 3rd. More than 5 years in the making, what I want to share with you will redefine the future of gaming."
Given the timeline that Huang provided, five years sounds like the perfect length for the design cycle of a new GPU. Additionally, rumors about Nvidia's "big Maxwell" chip has been circulating for quite some time now with some reports claiming that it was spotted on a video card with a massive RAM amounting to 12 gigabyte.
Another interesting rumor is about the successor to the Shield Tablet. Reports claim that the new device will take advantage of the massive computing power of the Tegra X1 processor which was unveiled recently at the Consumer Electronics Show, according to Tech Report.
The new Tegra processor is believed to have a 1 teraflop floating point processor power. It was also rumored to have an 8-core, 64-bit ARM CPU, according to India Today.
The event will be held at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco.
