AMD shows the AMD Polaris Radeon RX 480 videocard that beats the GTX 980
Two weeks before the launch date and the AMD Radeon RX 480 cards are starting to surface as the new Powercolor, Sapphire and XFX 480 photos leak along with their factory overclocked stock speeds.
While NVIDIA is having problems with the supply and demand of their GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 cards, AMD seems to be more than ready for the launch of their $200 Radeon RX 480 Polaris 10 video cards. The custom AIB and reference card photos have started to surface several weeks before the launch date on June 29.
Benchmark results for the new Radeon video card have also surfaced several days ago, showing that it can be on par or beat the GTX 980 if it is overclocked. The CrossFire setup benchmark results even show that it can beat the renowned king GTX 1080 by a close one percent for several hundred dollars less.
The XFX Radeon RX 480 card comes factory overclocked at 1288MHz which is just a few steps ahead of the reference clock speeds of 1266 MHz, TechFrag has learned. It also features a backplate for aesthetics and extra heat dissipation unlike the other custom AIB Polaris 10 cards.
During the launch of the GTX 1080. NVIDIA's partner cards were nowhere to be found and they have just started to surface several weeks after the launch date. AMD's partner cards seem to be already ready with their supply when the date finally hits.
The AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB model costs $200 and the price for the 8GB variant has been revealed to be $249 only, WCCFTech reported. Custom cards like the XFX, Sapphire and Powercolor models will probably cost $299 upwards as they feature custom coolers and factory overclocked frequencies that will give the user more headroom for overclocking their Polaris 10 graphics card.
AMD's card will feature a single HDMI 2.0 port and three DisplayPort 1.4 connectors. They will only require a single 6-pin connector with a power draw of only 150W TDP.
More AIB AMD Radeon RX 480 cards could still surface several days before the launch itself. The Powercolor, Sapphire and XFX models are just some of the blower reference options that users can grab on the day of the launch itself to test for themselves if the Polaris 10 XT card does really live up to the hype.
