For most hoops enthusiasts, they still remember LeBron James' TV special, "The Decision." The fans of Cleveland definitely would.
The city will celebrate their first championship in all of their professional sports teams since 1964, breaking a 52-year old "curse." As expected there will be a grand party that LeBron James was quoted "the biggest party Cleveland has ever seen."
Some details of the event were shared by Bleacher Report. "The celebration will kick off Monday, when the Cavaliers return to the city in triumphant fashion. he parade and rally will take place Wednesday in downtown Cleveland, the exact route, television information and schedule have not been announced. NBA TV broadcast the Warriors' championship parade last year and will likely do so for the Cavaliers on Wednesday."
Would there be a grand announcement at the parade? After fulfilling his promise to the city, there has been talk that James could leave Cleveland. As Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical noted, James had punched his "golden ticket."
"One more victory, one more magnificent night at Oracle Arena, and James will get to run off with his buddies again somewhere warm," Wojnarowski teased. "Miami. Los Angeles. Wherever. There's a restlessness about James that craves the next big move, the next power play."
Apparently, the other teams believe this-LeBron James will most likely not end his career in Cleveland, but he has to give them a title, and now he did it.
The article did quote the Sports Illustrated letter and the point is, as long as LeBron James brings a title, it's "Mission Accomplished" for him and he can do what he wants-and apparently there's a lot of things he wants to do, career wise.
Since he has now won titles with two different teams, he won't get to win a loyalty nod like Kobe. Thus, he can make winning a title on different teams as his legacy.
It is no secret that James wants to unite his "brotherhood" in one team. If they really wanted to, they can arrange that and a team like the LA Lakers have the capacity and willingness to cooperate. Some people think it's no coincidence that he has a home in LA.
But Cleveland is still a good team-the best in the league. With Kyrie Irving establishing himself as a worthy deputy (not just a sidekick) who can eventually lead his own team, the James-Kyrie tandem could rival Durant-Westbrook (as they've already disposed of the Splash Brothers). But is that really what he wants to do?
This will be an ongoing debate until LeBron James announces his decision. It won't be on a TV special. The parade would be the best place to end the uncertainty. Another cause for celebration.
But it would also be the best time to announce that he'll leave again..the fans can't burn his jersey after he gave them a title now, can they?
