Nintendo developers and producers have been recently putting out tasty updates for its new franchises, "Pokémon Sun and Moon" and "Pokémon Go," as a celebration for the video game's 20th anniversary. And just recently, at the concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, "Pokémon Sun and Moon" director Shigeru Ohmori and producer Junichi Masuda spilled before thousands of people the game's release date, with the additional three Pokémon - Yungoose, Grubbin, and Pikipek - and the new combat mode featuring free-for-all duel of trainers.
During Nintendo's conference at E3 2016, the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" director and producer cleared the agony of many awaiting players in announcing the release date of the renowned franchise that will be on Nov. 23, 2016.
However, a great deal of excitement was even felt on the event when the three new Pokémon that shall meet on the tropical region of Alola were introduced. First up in the trailer released on the "Pokemon" website is a flying-type Pokémon called Pikipek. This woodpecker Pokémon "can strike 16 times a second with its beak." It is hinted that these blows "are powerful enough to not only drill through hard wood but even shatter stone," as reported on the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" website. Surely, the Pokémon may be small and naturally cute, but it is also a force to deal with.
Next, is a Loitering Pokémon named Yungoos that is suspected to have fast digestion, making it a big-eater. With its Stakeout Ability, this "Pokémon's moves can deal twice the normal damage to any Pokémon that switch in or enter the field mid-battle," which can be a perfect strategy for hurting Pokémons in long battles.
Although, the bug-type Pokémon Grubbin was not presented in Nintendo's E3 livestream, it should be appropriately included as the third new Pokémon after this monster is introduced on the official trailer uploaded to the game's website. According to the website's description, Grubbin loves electricity and is likely to be found swinging in tree branches using its sticky threads.
During the E3 livestream, Ohmori and Masuda also showed off a new combat mode, Battle Royal. According to Wired, the mode shows off a turntable for four trainers with each player picking three Pokémon and battling with them one at a time. While still incorporating how players could only attack one Pokémon at a time, the battle challenges players' knowledge of elemental-types and their counterparts.
More information are also revealed on the website's partial Pokédex about the game's legendary Pokémons, Solgaleo and Lunala. As significant characters on "Pokémon Sun and Moon's" story, its Solgaleo's Radiant Sun Phase and Lunala's Full Moon Phase both appear as might powers that will soon be held mystery on the game.
