Although China has gained notoriety for eating dogs, highlighted in the Yulin Dog-Eating festival that begins Tuesday, June 21, other parts of China love man’s best friend.
In Tainan, Taiwan, there is a pet grooming salon called Igogo which specializes in giving unique haircuts to furry pets such as dogs and cats. The shop, run by Ou Shih-joy, an ex-hairdresser, could make animals look like another animal or an animated character with the power of the grooming staff’s comb and scissors, reported Mashable.
The only condition that the salon requires pet owners is that their animals have enough hair they could work on. However, styling services exclude dying animal fur.
One of the most popular designs that Igogo does is the stegosaurus which came up in response to the fur on a cat’s back standing up when the pet is angry. The design makes the cat appear like a small dinosaur, explained Ou.
Dogs could be made to look like small lions, but the Igogo groomers could also create a teddy bear design on a dog’s back or Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty on a doggy’s back. The teddy bear design is a specialization by Lee Mei-chen, who like Ou, was a hairdresser until she decided to become a pet groomer. The design takes almost three hours to make, reported Daily Mail.
But the pet haircuts does not come cheap because the lowest fee Igogo charges is $20.
