South Korean actor Song Joong-ki and actress Song Hye-kyo have reunited and met fans of their mega-hit TV show "Descendants of the Sun".
Yonhap News has reported that Hye-kyo has joined Joong-ki, who is currently doing an Asian tour, on his fan meeting in a university gymnasium in the southwestern city of Chengdu in China last Friday. More than 6,500 fans have gathered in the said event.
They have entertained their fans by re-enacting some of their famous scenes in the "Descendants of the Sun", drawing each other's portrait within a minute and singing a duet of "Always", the theme song of their popular TV show.
The 16-episode romantic series was about Yoo Shi Jin (Joong-ki) an army captain leading the South Korean peace-keeping troops in a fictitious war-torn area in a Middle East country and later on, developed a romantic relationship with Kang Mo Yeon (Hye-kyo), a doctor in a prestigious hospital who was assigned to lead a medical relief organization in the said country.
In South Korea and China Descendants of the Sun" premiered on the same date and since then; it has received an outpouring support among fans and has produced billions of views on iQiyi, a Chinese video website.
The series which has become a worldwide hit has gained a strong following from fans in other parts of the world.
K-pop news website Soompi has learned that its widespread popularity has made the producers of the show thinking to create "Descendants of the Sun" part two by 2017.
The sequel is rumored to focus on the story of supporting characters Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo), Shi Jin's best friend and part of his elite team, and Yoon Myeong Joo (Kim Ji Won), daughter of the Army's well-respected Commander and love interest of Dae Young.
However, there is no official announcement yet from KBS, official channel where it aired. Co-writer Kim Won Seok is also not so sure about the idea of a part two, while lead stars Joong-ki and Hye-kyo have not confirmed their comeback due to their busy schedules.
