The latest advancement on Microsoft's brick-generated game, Minecraft, surely puts the "unification of software worlds" to break the former limitations of the mob's adventure. Recently, Minecraft developers sought the need for a greater online experience of the video game by welcoming other platforms such as Android or IOS devices through the supported mobs, which improve the modability of the game.
Now, any update to the game can be rendered on different platforms since the old version forced players to engage on years-old versions of the game just to keep their mods working.
Apart from the increased Minecraft community done on the modding scene, the Minecraft community announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo tradeshow that new upcoming add-ons feature will enable players to remix everything in the game, as reported by Venture Beat.
According to Games Radar, the add-ons update will let players' maneuver the custom worlds, tilesets, and monster behaviors in a whole strange creations. In the same report, it is said that gamers can play with the geometry of the bricks like making zombies breed like rabbits or engineer creepers to move super fast.
Microsoft is encouraging players to download JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), a common filetype for scripting, editors in order to create endless worlds and creatures, whether on PC or mobile. The format uses plain-language values that humans can easily parse and edit, contain the behaviors for each character in the game as well as things like their size and speed.
"It's really not that difficult," Minecraft senior producer James Webster told Games Beat and a small room of other reporters. "It's just a matter of creating the geometries, which is just a bunch of points in space. And then adding the textures to that. It's really simple to make these massive changes. Add-ons, we hope, are going to encourage people to be super creative. It's a simple thing to change things, but then they can take things a step further by remixing all of these elements to come up with brand new ideas," Webster continued.
Meanwhile, Minecraft will continue building its path to success as the video game has just passed 100 million sales across all gaming platforms, including the PC, the Mac, other gaming consoles and mobile devices.
Through the enlarged community and mod upgrades, Minecraft could easily be the biggest game community in the future while staying on its mission to focus on the players' creativity and design.
