"Carpool Karaoke" is apparently going a notch higher since the viral video segment awareness associated with James Corden's CBS "Late Late Show" will explore new territories soon. The next clip of the drive-by sing will star the First lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.
In the "Late Late Show," host Corden rides around Los Angeles with a singing star icon along. As the two move around the street, Corden engages them in close dialogue and a multi song sing along to a couple of the featured stars' hit tracks, as well as different songs not by the artist.
The original concept emerged from Corden's "Late Late Show," which required an original clip to compete with its best network rivals like NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and ABC's "Nightline." In an interview with New York Post Corden explained that he came up with the idea together with executive producer Ben Winston.
"Ben Winston and I always thought there was something very joyful about someone very, very famous singing their songs in an ordinary situation," the "Late Late Show" host said. "We just had this idea: Los Angeles, traffic, the carpool lane - maybe this is something we could pull off."
The idea set off on a life of its own at the time CBS posted on YouTube some of the videos of the "Carpool Karaoke" that had aired on Corden's talk show. So far, the feature's breakthrough has taken to the shadow the success of the late night TV show itself.
While this has had respectable but far from stellar ratings, "Carpool Karaoke" has transformed into a bona fide viral smash on the internet for Corden. Different segments that have hit YouTube have garnered more than 1 billion views so far.
The most famous segments featuring Adele has hit more than 100 million views. Michelle Obama follows Adele's example with other celebrities including, Justin Bieber, and most recently Selena Gomez, according to Variety. Gwen Stefani, Elton John, and Jennifer Lopez have also featured in "Carpool Karaoke" with James Gorden.
Corden and company have gone a step higher with the confirmation that the US First Lady will appear in "Carpool Karaoke" upcoming segment. Watch the sneak peek below for further information.
