"Wonder Woman" Lynda Carter will be seen as US president in the "Supergirl" Season 2. Another addition to the show is Tyler Hoechlin who plays the role of Superman in the series.
Carter will play leader of the free world against Superwoman, Melissa Benoist. Putting her in the shoes of US president was long planned, Deadline reported. From "Wonder Woman" to US president, the journey makes sense for the TV star.
Carter, who is known for her role in 1970s TV series, "Wonder Woman" has been a part of number of other TV shows. She recently starred in "Chicago" as Matron Mama Morton. The other significant roles include "The Muppet Show", "Two and a Half Men", and "Partners in Crime" apart from many other she has graced.
Apart from her TV appearance, Lynda Carter has released three musical albums to her credit. The latest of them was "Crazy Little Things" in 2011.
Carter was asked to join by Mavrick Artists Agency. She was not the only new face roped by the TV show, though. Tyler Hoechlin, actor who is known for his character in "Teen Wolf" is also roped in as Superman.
Andrew Kreisberg, the executive producer of "Supergirl" season 2 mentioned about the inclusion of Hoechlin, saying "Greg and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman," The Iris reported. Hoechlin will be seen in first two episodes of season 2.
Kreisberg also said that they are thrilled and humbled as they could add an amazing actor to the prestigious list of iconic actors.
"Supergirl" is based on a DC comic character. The series is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros TV. Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter are the executive producers of the show.
Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Jeremy Jordan and Calista Flockhart are some of the major cast members of the show.
The season 2 of "Supergirl" is about to make a comeback on October 10, 2016 on The CW. It will join other two super hero series on the network, "Arrow" and "The Flash".
