English Premier League squad Manchester United is expected to undergo a heavy roster overhaul this summer as new manager Jose Mourinho takes over the reins at the Old Trafford.
Mourinho is allegedly being provided a £200M transfer kitty by the Red Devils in the offseason to try and form his preferred team that will once again challenge for the English top flight title next season.
Here are some of the latest from Manchester:
Red Devils close to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan, holds Julian Draxler bid as alternative. According to SkySports, United and Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are in the "advance stages" of their talks to move winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Germany to England this summer.
The 27-year-old Armenia captain is said to be leaning on a move to United rather than sign a contract extension with Dortmund. He still has one year remaining in his deal with the Borussians.
However, speculations are still out that the North Rhine-Westphalia residents are still not keen on selling their prized playmaker especially after midfielder Ilkay Gundogan was already sold to United's cross-city rivals, Manchester City, in a £20 million transfer earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the Mirror noted that Mourinho is holding a £38 million bid for Wolfsburg winger Julian Draxler should the pursuit of Mkhitaryan ends up failing.
The Portuguese mentor allegedly told United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward that Draxler is "a player he'd like at Old Trafford should they be unable to get a deal done for Mkhitaryan" and so a set budget was allotted for the Germany international just in case.
James Rodriguez sells Madrid house to prepare for Old Trafford move. The Sun reported that the 24-year-old Real Madrid winger had recently "put his house in Madrid up for sale" as the Colombia national team captain prepares himself for a £50 million move to Old Trafford.
Rodriguez, who is also a client of Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes, said to have received the graces of Los Blancos' senior officials to leave the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium this summer and the Red Devils are set to take advantage of the opportunity.
The 5-foot-11 Cúcuta, Colombia has been playing below expectations in his so far two-season stint with Real as he is not on top of the team's midfield pecking order with the likes of Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Isco, and Casemiro being given more playing opportunities.
He played less than 1,800 minutes for the club, starting in just 17 games in recently concluded term, and was not utilized in Real's Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid last month.
