The upcoming "Tetris" movie is not simply a video game adaptation but will be the first of a trilogy. Tetrilogy is conceived as a huge story and soon moviegoers will be brought to the Blocks-xit or Tetrisverse. Filmmaker Larry Kasanoff who did Paul W.S. Anderson's "Mortal Kombat," will possibly make a new franchise out of it.
Kasanoff, who was among the executive producers of "True Lies" stressed that the upcoming "Tetris" movies is not just about blocks. He is grateful though it is what people are thinking as it sets a low bar. It is an ongoing production of the "Untitled Tetris Sci-Fi Project" on IMDb with casting already underway.
"We want the story to be a surprise, but it's a big science-fiction movie," Kasanoff told Empire in an interview. He revealed, "I came up with the idea as I was thinking about Tetris and the theme of creating order out of chaos."
Kasanoff cautioned the movie is not about what many are thinking as he is confident no one can figure out what they are currently doing for the project. It is presumed the film is eyeing on the booming Chinese market as it will have a global feel or even some filming to be done in China.
