It seems like "Game of Thrones" is not done tormenting Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner). Right before the fantasy television series begins its long hiatus, actor Aidan Gillen, 48, reveals that Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish might bring Sansa's head on a spike.

Although Littlefinger's goals remain unclear in the TV series, the Irish-born actor recently sat down with Vulture to talk about what is in store for his character. Gillen speculated that the scenes from "Game of Thrones" Season 5 episode 5, which aired on May 17, 2015, could seemingly turn out to be essential soon.

Back then, Littlefinger promised to seize Winterfell with the Knights of the Vale in return for being named Warden of the North. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), who was last seen seated on the iron throne, demanded Sansa's head on a spike at the time.

Gillen then addressed whether or not Cersei will call in his debt to her. According to Gillen, Littlefinger may betray Sansa, though it is not clear if the former is outright willing to kill the latter given his obsession with her.

Speculations are rife that it is possible that Littlefinger intends to fake Sansa's death so he can have her in his possession again and seize the North without transparently turning on the Lannisters, as well. He also addressed fan-based speculations claiming that Sansa was only using Jon Snow (Kit Harington) as a bait, as the former is reportedly really more Littlefinger's protégé.

"She really is becoming more like me, more Baelish-like in the way she's operating, and the fact that she's operating at all," Gillen said. "She has become a player under my tutelage, and that's what I wanted."

As for what is next for Littlefinger, Gillen pointed out that his character has not yet been given the reward Sansa promised him when she wrote him for an aid back in "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken" episode. He speculated that the reward could be a place of great influence in her regime or it could be a marriage, material lands or wealth.

Gillen also said something regarding the possibility of Littlefinger working with Jon Snow, and it appears like there could be a showdown between these two later on. He said that both characters are perhaps going to be more clever, more ruthless and more adversarial in Season 7, pointing out that the Season 6 ended with Jon Snow being proclaimed as the new King in the North by the Northern Lords, in which Littlefinger eyes Jon with envy.

Meanwhile, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss recently expressed to Variety that "Game of Thrones" Season 7 will be somewhat shorter than its predecessor. The publication notes that the much-awaited Season 7 will only consist of seven episodes due to the smaller amount of story content remaining.

"Game of Thrones" Season 7 is expected to premiere around mid-April 2017. Check out the promo for "Game of Thrones" Season 6 finale below:
