Blizzard could be planning to develop Diablo 4 as the Diablo III maker has posted a job ad for a game director for a new video game title.
The game has not yet been officially announced or confirmed by Blizzard yet. However, the job posting did say that the game director is expected "to lead the Diablo series" which means that it will most likely be Diablo 4.
There is still a small chance that it could be a spin-off or a huge expansion that will be based on their current Diablo III video game. However, the game itself has been around for more than four years.
The game director job is just one of the many openings for the new unannounced Diablo project. Blizzard is also looking for six more staff for what could be the Diablo 4 game, Polygon has learned.
Other positions include Senior Animator, Senior VFX Artist, Senior Character Artist and Software Engineer. The job opening for a Senior Concept Artist also suggests that the Diablo 4 title is in its early stages of pre-production.
Diablo III game director Josh Mosqueira seems to be out of the new Diablo 4 project as Blizzard is looking for his replacement, Geek reported. Diablo fans will have to wait as it could take several more years before Blizzard has something to show for the game itself.
Blizzard confirmed to Polygon that Josh has left their company and that there was "minimal impact" on the development team. Their job posting now shows that they are looking for his replacement from outside the studio.
The game director that the company is looking for needs to have a proven track record of shipping AAA titles. It means that the new Diablo game will be helmed by those who are experienced in the billion-dollar video game industry.
Fans will have to wait for Blizzard's official announcement on whether the new job postings are indeed for Diablo 4. The fact that the ads are open to the public suggests that Blizzard is not hiding their new project and they could announce it soon and it could be on BlizzCon 2017 at the earliest.
