Blizzard is finally releasing the Overwatch Competitive Play mode update for the Xbox One after rolling it out for the PC this week with the PlayStation 4 version still waiting for a date.
Almost all first person shooters have some form of competitive mode that would separate the beginners from the adept players and Overwatch is no exception. The Quick Match will still be available for those who just want to play a pressure-free game for a couple of minutes.
Overwatch players will need to reach at least level 25 before they can play in the new Competitive Play mode with other players of the same caliber, GameSpot has learned. The new mode will show up under the Play section of the main menu once they reach the required level.
Besides the new game mode, there are also other bug fixes included in the new update. Dead-zone controls are also improved to help Xbox One players increase their accuracy while using their controllers.
Xbox One users can also adjust the aim assist strength under the options menu. By default, the option is set to full force which could be too much for some players looking for a challenge.
One major problem for the Overwatch Competitive Play mode is that the level of play toxicity intensified, Forbes reported. The added pressure in winning and the sense of superiority among players in the game mode pushes some to rage hard in both the text and voice chat features of the game.
Fortunately, users can still mute trolls or noisy players in the game. All they have to do is push "P" for the PC gamers to bring out the voice panel and they can mute a player's voice and text chat.
Another observation made regarding the new Overwatch game mode is that games tend to stick out longer than the usual as they stretch up to almost an hour for a single play. The XP gain could also be minimal depending on which side the player is on and how much they actually contributed throughout the game.
There are also several more bug fixes that were included in the new Overwatch update. Xbox One players can now update their clients in order to try out the Competitive Play mode if they are already on the required level.
