After the release of chapter 360, "Hunter X Hunter" will be taking another break in its publication. There had been rumors that the next chapter will be in print by 2017.
Just after making its comeback this year, "Hunter X Hunter" is once again taking a hiatus. It can be recalled that the manga series have been in and out of the hiatus status due to its manga artist Yoshihiro Togashi's battle with his back pain.
The longest hiatus period summed up to around unpublished 80 issues, while its longest publication streak is 30 issues, Kotaku reported. Shonen Jump is yet to issue a notice for the announcement.
The last published chapter already commenced with the Dark Continent Arc, the new arc that fans have been waiting for so badly. Now that another break is happening again, most of them may be disappointed as the new arc is just starting to unfold. However, they may consider Togashi's current condition which has greatly affected the artist's performance and the manga's release.
Togashi experienced recurring back pains over the past years. The long breaks started in 2006, according to a chart posted in Hiatus. The current publication streak is at 11 issues, while 362 issues have already been released since "Hunter X Hunter" debuted in Manga.
If the missed issues are to be counted, a total of 521 issues were already missed as of the current date. All of the its total issues for 2015 were not published while 2014 was recorded with the highest number of unpublished issues.
In the recent years, it seemed that more issues are being missed by the "Hunter X Hunter" artist. Some may not be surprised if Togashi will take a permanent break in creating the manga series, while some fans continue to be hopeful that the series will still exist in print despite Togashi experiencing back pains.
It is expected that more details will be revealed in the coming months regarding the manga's possible comeback in publication. A 2017 return may be likely, but who knows, Togashi may be able to get back on track late this year.
