The upcoming Nexus M1, aka HTC Marlin, has been benchmarked and its scores beat the scores of Apple iPhone 6S and HTC 10. HTC Marlin is packed with some high-end specs, which make it a direct competitor to Apple and HTC flagship devices.
HTC Marlin or Nexus M1 obtained a score of 2084 and 4969, on the single-core and multi core score entities respectively, according to GeekBench. Whereas the benchmarking scores of Apple iPhone 6S and HTC 10 are 4417 and 4962, respectively.
HTC will manufacture Marlin and it will be one of the Nexus devices to be launched in 2016. This particular smartphone will come with the following: a 3,450mAh battery, 4GB of RAM with 32 and 128 GB of internal storage options, a quad-core Qualcomm chip, an 8-megapixel front camera, a 12-megapixel rea camera, a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2 and bottom-facing speakers, according to Phone Arena.
Nexus is also planning to release another device codenamed as "Sailfish," which is a mid-range device. The specs for Sailfish include: an 8-megapixel front camera, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a USB Type-C port, 4 GB of Ram with 32GB of internal storage, bottom-facing speakers, a 5-inch FullHD display, a rear-panel fingerprint scanner, a 2,770mAh battery, a top-mounted headphone jack with Bluetooth 4.2 and a Quad-core 2.0GHz64-bit chip.
Google has not revealed when these new devices will be available. Normally, Nexus smartphones and the latest Android OS launches occur somewhere between October and November. Hence, Android Nougat is likely to be released with the two new Nexus smartphones.
Currently, the HTC-made Nexus Smartphones are being tested to see if they have full implementation of the pressure-sensitive touch displays. Google has combined support for pressure-sensitive touch with Android Nougat's code.
Google's 3D Touch has been hardwired into the upcoming operating system Android Nougat thus enhancing the scalability of the platform. With hardwiring, Google will have the ability to open this option up to its numerous app developers. This will, in turn, give rise to a new industry of apps, which utilize the pressure-sensitive touch.
In other news, many Chinese manufacturers such as Oppo and Xiamoi have also revealed they will create a pressure-sensitive touch display handset. This is a similar technology to Apple's force touch.
