English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur has retained the services of resident striker Harry Kane after the two parties agreed to a five-year, £25 million deal while the Spurs are also set to sign Dutch ace Vincent Janssen this week.
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino is said to be keen on keeping his top goalscorer last season and also to upgrade Kane's supporting cast up front with the impending signing of the 22-year-old Janssen in preparation for the squad's Champions League participation next season.
Kane, who will turn 23 later this month, was the English top flight's Golden Boot winner last term after he led the Premier League in goalscoring with 25 goals in 38 appearances. He also scored a further three goals in other competitions for the Spurs in 2015-2016.
However, the 6-foot-2 Chingford, England native had a disappointing stint in this summer's UEFA European Championship after the Three Lions were eliminated by Iceland in the round-of-16 stage, as per The Sun.
Kane uncharacteristically completed the tournament without a single goal as he seemed burnt out after the long English first division season.
The Spurs had been a frontrunner to grab the Premier League title last season, but they fell short with successive setbacks in the last few weeks of competitions. The trophy ultimately went to Leicester City with Arsenal overtaking them for the runner-up spot as they settled to a third place finish.
Meanwhile, Caught Offside reported that the Spurs are "set to conclude a deal for AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen this week after a prolonged transfer saga".
Janssen's transfer fee is said to be around £16 million as there are still no details of the terms of his incoming contract with the Spurs.
The 5-foot-11 Heesch, Netherlands native is also known as a terrific goalscorer, leading the Eredivisie in scoring last season with 27 goals in 34 appearances in the Dutch top flight. Overall, he had scored 31 goals in 49 games for Alkmaar last term.
With Janssen, Pochettino's scoring options is expected to double as their opponents will now have to defend two prolific strikers simultaneously or one at a time depending on how the 44-year-old Argentine manager decides to use them.
