“Half Life 3” is a game that many have been waiting on and Valve has yet to come up with something to appease the demand of gamers. It will almost be 10 years since Valve came out with the last first-person shooter game and those who enjoyed it continue to hope for something.
E3 would have been a perfect event for Valve to update the fans of a possible clue on Half Life 3. Seeing that there have been no updates on its status, the obvious is the there has been no movement for the game.
Valve CEO Gabe Newell has not totally fanned out the possibility of a Half Life 3 though a big requirement is to see a good script according to The News Independent. With that said, it will be up to the people on the company’s end to come up with one. Newell also noted that there are people internally interested in coming up with a HL3.
Assuming that someone is able to hand Newell a good script (internally or externally), would this finally get the ball rolling with regards to a new installment of the first-shooter game? What can gamers eventually expect from a VR-backed game? How about the graphics resolution tied up to the VR craze?
With most game titles right now adopting the virtual reality niche, Half Life 3 should be perfect. Thanks to a revelation from an alleged Valve hardware engineer named Alan Yates, the company may be headed in that direction according to another post from The News Independent.
If this is the case, seeing Half Life 3 in VR by 2018 could be perfect. This is mainly because the game franchise will be celebrating its 20th anniversary by that time so the pace on development may just be right.
For the meantime, Valve may be too occupied addressing other game titles. The list includes Portal 3 and Left 4 Dead 3, the progress of which Valve has not confirmed or denied. With that in the mix, it will be interesting if Half Life 3 will get some attention.
