The globally hit Korean series "Descendants of the Sun" is expected to be pursued for Season 2 without the main leads in Season 1 - Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki.
Weeks after the series has ended, news about "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 circulated in the internet; however, it seems that casts and plot of the story will be far from what the fans have imagined. According to reports, "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 will exclude the SongSong couple, and focus instead on the second much-loved tandem of Seo Dae Young and Yoon Myung Joo.
The two were both military officers who have high regard for their positions, but eventually fell in love with each other. Unfortunately, circumstances such as Seo Dae Yong being lower in rank to Yoon Myung Joo caused his father to dislike the former, and pair his daughter to Captain Yoo (Song Joong Ki) instead.
The challenge on how to protect each other and their careers, without compromising their feelings for each other, was one of the most heartfelt highlights of the story that made fans want more of them.
While exploring the love story of the two will undoubtedly bring fans crazy, it still seems unclear on why the leads be excluded in "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2. It can be remembered that Joong Ki expressed his disappointment for too much encroachment on his privacy, right after "Descendants of the Sun" aired.
In his statement quoted by The Straits Times, Joong Ki said that, "to say that these things I need to endure for the sake of celebrity.. that's sad." Some of what has been included in what is said to be invasion of his privacy is having the photo of his ex-girlfriend circulated in the internet, while recently his passport information being leaked.
As for Hye Kyo, she is rumored to have a new project not with Joong Ki, but with actor Lee Min Ho who just recently expressed his desire to work with the actress.
Meanwhile, according to KBS drama department head Jung Sung Ho, "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 is possible to happen, and KBS will make sure to meet the expectations of the viewers. The season is said to come out in 2017.
