The NBA Rumors continue to revolve around Dwyane Wade and his hometown team is now taking charge.
The Chicago Bulls are reportedly making a serious run at their hometown boy Wade as they try to take advantage of the best opportunity to get a superstar.
The latest reports have Bulls' new recruit Rajon Rondo and Jimmy Butler are now making the pitch to bring their former rival to his hometown. This was mentioned by Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders.
This sounds ideal on paper for Hoiball: Rondo, Wade and Butler could start since Butler can play small forward and guard the opponents' best wing player, even LeBron James or Kevin Durant.
According to a report from Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Wade has upped his price tag to $ 50 million for two years which drove out of the Miami Heat's offer (40 million for the same time period).
"Wade is from Chicago, and he considered the Bulls in free agency in 2010. The Nuggets have been recruiting Wade since July 1 and also have had talks with Heat free agent and friend of Wade Udonis Haslem. Haslem nearly joined the Nuggets in 2010 before re-signing with the Heat."
Windhorst also quoted fellow ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne when he mentioned that the "dream scenario" of Wade joining LeBron James in the Cleveland Cavaliers is unlikely to happen. The Cavs have the highest payroll in the league and for them to accommodate Wade, there was some (farfetched) speculation that LeBron James would take the minimum salary so Wade can hop on board.
"James, sources told Shelburne, is not willing to take less than the maximum contract he can sign with the Cavs, who are so far above the luxury-tax threshold that they could offer Wade only their $3.5 million midlevel exception. Being over the luxury tax threshold also means the Cavs couldn't do a sign-and-trade for Wade."
The Wade drama continues as he actually went on with his free agent meetings which were previously reported to be cancelled. The impasse with the Heat has gone beyond bluffing and posturing. There is a real chance that Wade could leave the Heat and the Bulls could be the beneficiary.
