"The Fosters" season 4 cast member David Lambert recently opened up about his character Brandon and Callie's (Maia Mitchell) relationship.
Throughout the first three seasons, Brandon and Callie have expressed their love for each other. However, both characters know that they cannot be together because they are no foster siblings.
Despite of this, Brandon and Callie still engaged in sex in season 3, and they are still dealing with the serious ramifications of their actions.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Lambert said that Brandon and Callie will continue to have multiple scenes together, but they will set aside their feelings for each other so they could focus on other more important issues.
"Brandon and Callie get paired up and I think for the first time in a while you get to see them working together putting aside all the stuff and just kind of making sure everyone's good and safe, and they're kind of a team in those moments," he said.
In the previous episode, Brandon and Callie helped appease their schoolmates when a gun violence incident took place in their school.
At that time, both characters spent some time locked inside the classroom until police officials were able to clear the vicinity.
Meanwhile, Mitchell talked about the central theme for "The Fosters" season 4.
According to the Australian actress, they want the series to remain grounded just like how the hit Freeform TV show was throughout the first three seasons.
"We definitely wanted it to feel grounded. We didn't want it to feel like some kind of, like, cop show. We wanted it to be like 'The Fosters' does that in a grounded way, and I haven't seen it yet, but we hope we did that," she said.
In other news, "The Fosters" season 4 will return with a new episode next week that focuses on the aftermath of Nick's gun violence deed. His girlfriend Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) will also be blamed for the former's ballistic act because the latter cheated on him with her ex-boyfriend.
"The Fosters" season 4, episode 3, entitled "Trust," will air on Freeform on July 11 at 8 p.m. ET.
