"General Hospital" lead star Kirsten Storms has good news for her fans as she is returning to reprise her role as Maxie Jones early in August. She took a leave from the daytime television medical drama in May, which also concurs with her divorce with co-star Brandon Barash.

A rep for "General Hospital" confirmed to Soap Opera Digest that Storms will be back on screen after taking a three-month leave from the sudser. In her earlier announcement on Twitter, she informed her fans that she was struggling with her skin breakouts, adding that the GH makeup team found it hard to conceal them.

During her absence, she was temporarily replaced by the "Days of Our Lives" star Molly Burnett. There was an earlier rumor that Jen Lilley, who assumed Storms' role previously when she took a break, will take her role again. However, there was a conflict on the taping schedule with her "DOOL" stint.

It was not the first time for Storms to take a leave from the "General Hospital" series as she already had her first hiatus in 2011 due to her endometriosis, TV Line reported. Her break from the ABC daytime series coincides with Tyler Christopher's break from his role as Nikolas Cassadine. "Sunset Beach" alum Nick Stabile took over his role starting in June.

Storms' leave of absence left her fans worried about her because apart from her skin problems, she is also facing rough issues in her personal life. She recently divorced her husband Brandon Barash, who played Johnny Zacchara in the soap opera. The two got married in 2013 and share a daughter named Harper.

Despite the speculations on her divorce, it looked like Storms was in great spirits as she shared a photo of her and her co-star Rebecca Herbst on Instagram having a night out some weeks ago. She has not addressed any speculations regarding her divorce.
