Nintendo is still quite secretive about their Nintendo NX but they do plan to reveal the new console before 2016 ends which makes a Gamescom 2016 unveiling in August possible.

The Japanese video game company has originally planned to reveal the Nintendo NX during the E3 2016 event but they said they feared that their console could be copied. Nintendo has also skipped the Tokyo Game Show which everyone expected was the right event and venue for the console unveiling.

Microsoft has already unveiled their Xbox Project Scorpio to the public with a short teaser and some of its specs. Sony has confirmed earlier that their PlayStation Neo does exist but the specs and features have not been revealed just like with the Nintendo NX.

Both the PlayStation Neo and the Xbox Scorpio are expected to run games at 4K at playable framerates. The Nintendo NX has been claimed to compete with content and not with the horsepower of the console itself.

Another evidence that suggests the Nintendo NX will be revealed at the Gamescom event in Germany on August 17 is that the original Gamecube was also announced back then at the same month, Digital Trends has learned. It is a reasonable decision considering that the PlayStation Neo and the Xbox Scorpio have been hogging the spotlight with their bold claims.

The Nintendo NX could be another console that would tend to a niche market. Nintendo themselves have said that they are not interested in VR right now which could mean that their console might not be up for it.

Instead, they could be more focused on games. The Nintendo NX has also been rumored to use the classic cartridges instead of discs as a patent from the company shows no optical internal optical drive present, The Inquisitr reported.

The lack of the specs of the new console does worry its fans. The Nintendo NX could turn up to be another disappointment and end up last place in the console wars once again.

Fans will just have to brace themselves and wait for the official Nintendo NX reveal speculated to be at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany on August 17. The specs, features and release dates could also be unveiled by then.
