PlayStation 4 exclusive "ADR1FT" will be released on July 15. Game developer Adam Orth promises that the video game will be a unique experience for players to try out.
Orth said on the official website of the threeonezero that he is excited to announce that the non-VR version of the game will be released in North America and Europe on the same day. With his partner Omar Aziz, they developed this unique game set in space.
The game developer said that the game will be hard to categorize since it is a combination of different genres like action, simulation, exploration, mechanics, objectives, puzzles, and storytelling. He specified that it will focus on the fantasy of an astronaut in the middle of the many dangers in space. According to Eurogamer, it was usually compared to movie thriller "Gravity," but the game developer revealed that it is actually closer to "2001: A Space Odyssey," and "Moon."
The video game is a first-person experience or FPX, which is non-violent, and driven by its narrative. Its focus will be exploration, environment, narrative, and light game mechanics. Orth said that the game will have similarities to other FPX games like "Firewatch," "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture," and "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter."
This game will be the story of Commander Alex Oshima, who suddenly wakes up floating inside the destroyed Northstar IV space station, along with its debris. Orth revealed that the protagonist will have no memory of who she is, and also she will have no memory of what really happened in the space station, which took away the lives of her crew. She will only have the damaged EVA suit she is wearing, and it is slowly leaking oxygen.
The goals of the players in the video game are just to stay alive, and get out of the station to finally come home. Players will have to find oxygen resources, try to repair the damaged EVA suit, and activate again the station's core system mainframes to operate the whole station, explained Orth.
Players can finish the FPX game within four hours, but it can be shorter or longer. The game developer said that the playthrough will depend on how much exploration the players will do with it.
The game developer revealed that the game will only have a digital PSN copy. They currently do not have any plans for it to have a physical or retail copy. He also added that the game will have a price of $19.99.
