Just Cause 3 multiplayer or the JC3-MP has been scrapped as the developer behind it has been hired by Avalanche Studios Sweden, which made the first and third installment in the franchise.

Clearly, modder Cameron Foote's talents have been noticed by the Just Cause 3 makers. Unfortunately, it means an indefinite pause to the development of Just Cause 3 Multiplayer project as the job itself would be his first priority.

Foote also mentioned that the rest of the team won't be able to continue the mod as well because they are "just too busy" to keep pursuing the project. He did promise to bring more content for future projects from Avalanche which he did not mention.

The Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod will still be active even with Foote's departure from the modding team, VG247 has learned. It is still a mystery as to why a multiplayer feature was not included in Just Cause 3 when it was launched considering that the second game's MP mod was a success.

It is also unclear why Avalanche hired Foote in the first place. Some are speculating that it could be to finally make an official multiplayer feature for Just Cause 3 after several months of fans waiting.

The JC3-MP project is now being expected from modding team Nanos, PC Gamer reported. They are responsible for making multiplayer mods in 2K's Mafia 2 and Rockstar's popular GTA V.

Avalanche Studios has not announced any new projects yet but they could still release updates soon. Fans are hoping that one of those updates could be the Just Cause 3 multiplayer feature.

"As part of Avalanche, I'll be able to bring many of the things you know and love from JC2-MP into future Avalanche experiences, while reaching heights that a mere mod couldn't facilitate," Foote wrote in his official blog post.

Foote said that he was made an offer he could not refuse by Avalanche Studios several months ago. He added that the would be working on present projects and those that are still set for the future. Of course, he could be bound by a non-disclosure agreement regarding a Just Cause 3 multiplayer feature if it does exist.
