The untitled reboot of the movie "Saw" has been slated for Oct. 27, 2017 along with Lionsgate's thriller "The Commuter" for Oct. 13, 2017, the distributor also scheduled the upcoming Summit Entertainment action comedy "The Hitman's Bodyguard" from director Patrick Hughes for Aug. 18, 2017.
"The Hitman's Bodyguard" will star "Deadpool's" Ryan Reynolds and his former foe Samuel L. Jackson will be playing the role of world's top protection agent and client - hitman respectively. A murderous dictator (Gary Oldman) threatens them, who only have 24 hours to save the day.
According to Deadline, Hitman's Bodyguard will square off with Sony/Screen Gems' reboot of "Flatliners" on its opening weekend.
EW has confirmed that the next "Saw" feature that is yet untitled will be co-directed by Michael and Pet er Spierig. This version is thus far the only wide release to be dated on the weekend prior to Halloween. However, "Saw" will arrive the weekend after Universal's Insidious: Chapter 4 and Warner Bros.' Gerard Butler movie "Geostorm" hit the screen.
The new untitled reboot for "Saw," slated for Oct. 27, 2017, will be co-directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, but plot details and casting are still under wraps. "Saw VIII" is on its way and the movie's tentative title may be "Saw: Legacy." However, there is no official news about the same.
"Saw" kicked off studio horror's "torture porn" phase with a huge success earning over $100 million worldwide. "Saw III" peaked the earning rate with $165 million; after that, the box office dropped for the next three installments-with the nadir at "Saw VI", which raked in less than $70 million. But the seventh and final installment spiked to $136 million.
The "Saw" series was directed by James Wan's. The original "Saw" was his feature debut, and since then he has launched two more horror franchises ("Insidious" and "The Conjuring"), directed Furious 7, and landed his very own comic-book movie, DC's Aquaman.
