The world is immersed in the aura created by Pokémon Go, the recently-released augmented reality game. Not it is being rumored that the idea of a similar version of "Game of Thrones" smartphone game could be in the pipeline, too.
The "Game of Thrones" fans have already started to imagine their own idea of the next big augmented reality game. The avid smartphone gamers are hopeful that Westeros might provide a base for the next big game similar to Pokémon Go, according to News.com.au.
Pokémon Go is a result of a successful collaboration between Niantic Labs and Nintendo. The app has become a sensation among the people in the United States - who are now walking and running more than ever. The game requires smartphone users to walk, run and even jump to chase the Pokémon characters and hatch their eggs to discover a new character.
While the world is busy getting crazy over Pokémon Go, the head of marketing for the game at Niantic Labs, Archit Bhargava, has different plans in his mind. The mastermind would like to see similar concept applied to HBO's most famous fantasy epic, according to a report by GameSpot.
There could be a board game you could make in the real world where people are capturing locations like risk or something," Bhargava told the publication. "My personal fantasy is like a Game of Thrones game where Westeros is mapped out on Earth and you join House Stark or whatever.
Niantic Labs have worked on other augmented reality games in the post as well. One such game is "Ingress," which is yet another location-based game that divides players into opposing faction. This makes it easier to imagine a "Game of Thrones" smartphone game with the Lannisters and the Starks on the opposite ends of the real-world battlefield, which will be played on the smartphone of the user.
Considering the fact that Pokémon Go has already escalated the market value of Nintendo by $11.8 billion in just one week, a "Game of Thrones" smartphone game would be a nice idea to emulate on that success.
