Embattled South Korean actor Park Yoochun surely got the surprise of his life on Friday when the Seoul Gangnam Police recommended to file charges against him instead of acquit the friend of “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki.
Soompi reported that the police forwarded its findings to the prosecution which stated that the actor was not guilty of sexual assault as charged by four different women. However, because they found evidence of sex between Park Yoochun and the first complainant, he is being charged with solicitation of prostitution.
In addition, Park Yoochun was charged with fraud because he promised to pay the woman an amount before they had sex and he did not pay as promised. The basis of police in making that conclusion is text message exchange between the two which they recovered from the actor’s mobile phone.
The woman also texted to a friend that Park Yoochun’s promised to pay her for sex. For this, the accuser would be charged with prostitution.
The police added that the second victim’s claims were false, making her liable to face charges of false accusation. But it is not the case for the third and fourth women because officers consider it difficult to prove the use of force. The first complainant, her boyfriend and her cousin would also be charged with blackmail.
In response to the police recommendation, C-JeS, the agency of Park Yoochun, said in a statement, “We cannot acknowledge the police’s recommendation of indictment for charges of solicitation of prostitution as it is completely different from the truth. We once again clearly state that there is no truth to Park Yoochun soliciting prostitution. We will cooperate with the prosecution’s investigation so that his innocence will be proven.”
