A steady surge in rumors has been circulating in the tech community about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. The rumored successor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab has been tagged the "iPad Air 2 killer."
Although Samsung has yet to confirm the tablet's existence, sources close to the company say the tablet is in development and currently aims to take the title as the "thinnest" tablet on the market, according to BGR.
That title is currently held by iPad Air 2, which is only 6.1 mm thick, and so far the thinnest of all Apple products. The iPhone 6 is 6.9 mm thick and the iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1 mm thick.
Although being "thin" has become a trend nowadays for any device, it also comes with a price as what happened to the new iPhone 6. Reports began circulating that due to its extremely thin body, the iPhone 6 could be bent easily. The claim was later dismissed by Apple as a hoax.
According to TechTimes, the Galaxy Tab S2 will have two variants based on its display size. One option is the 8.0-inch and the other is the 9.7-inch. The current Galaxy Tab S has an 8.4-inch and a 10.5-inch variant.
Continuing its practice of using premium material on its high-end products, the Galaxy Tab S2 is rumored to sport a metal frame.
On the other hand, Samsung has already confirmed it will release two entry-level priced tablets: the Galaxy Tab A and the Galaxy Tab A Plus. The Galaxy Tab A has an 8.0-inch display while the latter has a 9.7-inch display.
The two tablets were reported to be limited to LTE and Wi-Fi option only. Both devices will have the same 1024x768 resolution.
