"Breaking Bad" actor Bryan Cranston has apologized for making a homophobic "Power Rangers" remark during an interview seven years ago.

The 60-year-old has issued an apology to gay actor David Yost over an offensive comment he made about his role in the hit 90s series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers."

During an interview with IGN in 2009, when asked about his stint as a voice artist on the "Power Rangers" series, Cranston said that they named Yost's character, Blue Power Ranger Billy Cranston, after him but the only problem was that he was the "fey" member of the Power Rangers team.

"He's the fey one, that's the problem," Cranston said in the interview. One of the meanings of the word describe a hetereosexual male who exhibits qualities or characteristics that are usually seen in a homosexual, according to The Wrap.

The word "fey" can be interpreted several ways, however, one meaning of the word described a straight male who exhibits personality traits that are stereotypically associated with being gay.

In a recent interview with NBC OUT, when asked about Cranston's casting in the upcoming "Power Rangers" reboot, Yost said that he was offended by the "Godzilla" actor's homophobic remarks.

"When I read the interview, which took place about a year before I came out publicly it really hurt me," Yost said.

He added that Cranston probably thought he was being funny when he made that comment but those are the kinds of remarks he would hear while filming and it would affect him, especially the part where Cranston describes being fey as a "problem."

Cranston has now responded to Yost's comments, saying that he had no recollection of saying something like that but even though he said what he said as a joke, he still takes full responsibility for his insensitive and potentially hurtful comments.

"To hear that my impulsive comment hurt someone's feelings, makes me contrite," the actor said in a statement. "I accept responsibility for the thoughtless remark and apologize to Mr. Yost and anyone else who may have been offended."

Cranston has been cast as Zordon in the upcoming "Power Rangers" reboot. The film, which also stars Elizabeth Banks as the evil villainess Rita Repulsa, is slated to hit theaters on March 24, 2017.
