PlayStation 4 users will finally be able to play the Rise of the Tomb Raider as Square Enix announced the release date of the 20 Year Celebration edition for the console.
Square Enix said that the Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration edition for the PlayStation 4 will be released on October 11. It will also include a new story in the game titled "Blood Ties."
What's interesting about the Blood Ties expansion pack is that it will allow players to defend the Croft Manor against Zombies through Lara's nightmare. Interestingly, the game mechanic seems similar to the several Call of Duty titles that introduced zombie defense modes in their games.
Those who will buy the Rise of the Tomb Raider Blood Ties DLC on all platforms will also be able to play as five classic Lara Croft models from games several decades back, Eurogamer.net reported. It will certainly make players want to play the game all over again as the old Lara Croft with pointy edges in her body, hair and face.
Players who have a season pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider will have no problems getting the new Blood Ties DLC with no further payments. Square Enix has not yet released how much the expansion pack will cost across platforms.
Another new feature for the game is the Extreme Survivor difficulty. Players will have no checkpoints present in the game as they would need to find enough resources to light their own campfires to save their game and to change equipment.
Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration with Blood Ties DLC will also have PlayStation VR support that would make users play through the expansion story in first person, Game Spot reported. There is also a new co-op Endurance mode for those who want to pair up.
Other inclusions of the special edition for the PlayStation 4 include a new cold weather outfit, all pre-order outfits and equipment, and a limited edition artbook. Of course, players would have to buy the physical product of the Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration with Blood Ties DLC if hey want to get the physical freebies as well.
