The recruiting period of the Class of 2017 is heating up and one top prospect has shown his talents to the entire world.
Collin Sexton is a five star recruit but he is only ranked no.26 in the ESPN 100. However, he probably has the most international fans because of his stint with the U17 Team USA where they brought home the gold medal and Sexton garnered MVP honors.
Sexton was often described as an "electric player" as he led the talented American team to a dominating run. He recently narrowed down his college choices to ten schools, ESPN reported.
"Now, Sexton has cut his list down to 10 schools: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Kansas, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State and Villanova," as listed by ESPN's Paul Biancardi.
"Every school has seen me by now and I did my research on the schools that I like, so now is a good time for me to move ahead in the recruiting process," Sexton said. "It was very difficult to cut this list down but I chose the programs that I felt will best fit my up-tempo style of play. I never want to walk the ball up the floor on offense, and on defense, I like to extend my pressure."
It's quite surprising that a recruit like Sexton does not have the top two recruiting schools, Duke and Kentucky on his final list. What's even more surprising is that he wasn't even offered by both Coach K and John Calipari.
"Duke and Kentucky have showed interest but have not offered," Biancardi reported.
Perhaps the two titans decided that Sexton has different priorities from their traditional targets. This early in the recruiting period, and even though he has ten schools to choose from, Alabama is the overwhelming favorite to land him, according to 24/7 Sports Crystal Ball prediction.
Practically all of the experts had Alabama as Sexton's destination. This is because Coach Avery Johnson (former NBA player and head coach) has recruited him the longest.
Sexton is described as "a dynamic scoring guard with deep range to make 3-point shots both off the dribble and off the catch." His quickness is his main asset as shown in his highlights at the FIBA U17.
