The French Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan will be coming to China in August. They will have one show in Beijing and two in Shanghai.
Simple Plan was a big success during their last show in 2012 in 2013. They are now returning to China to promote their newest album, "Taking One for the Team." This is their fifth album.
Their shows will take place at the Huiyuan Space of Beijing on Aug. 28, and two shows at Shanghai's Mercedes-Benz Arena on Aug. 30 and 31.
The band's vocalist is Pierre Bouvier, drummer is Chuck Comeau, bassist is David Desrosiers, and guitarists are Sebastien Lefebvre and Jeff Stinco. Their popular hits include "Welcome to My Life" and "Jet Lag."
Their latest album received generally positive reviews. Some fans said that the songs were pure, no-frills, feel-good fun, a start-to-finish crowd-pleaser for fans of that classic pop-punk sound.
A critic from Metacritic.com said, "It's hard to fault them for sticking to that template since it was what helped turn the band into superstars around the world. But as Simple Plan moves outside of their musical comfort zone, it would be great to hear them mess with the formula a little more."
Simple Plan started in 2002 with the album "No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls."
The following albums were "Still Not Getting Any..." in 2004, "Simple Plan" in 2008, "Get Your Heart On!" in 2011.
The band has also released an extended play entitled "Get Your Heart On - The Second Coming!" released in 2013.
They have two live albums, "Live in Japan 2002" and "MTV Hard Rock Live" which was out in 2005.
The band performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
