Sui Ishida, the illustrator of the popular Japanese manga series ''Tokyo Ghoul'' has produced one of the bestselling series which was serialised in Shueisha's seinen manga. As per the latest update, the season 3 of the anime series based on this manga will be aired in 2016.
Between September 2011 and September 2014, Weekly Young Jump magazine published the first series. Based on the popularity of this manga, from October 2014, Ishida started serialising a sequel titled ''Tokyo Ghoul:re.'' There was a prequel named ''Tokyo Ghoul [Jack]'' which was run online on Jump Live.
The popularity of the manga series naturally compelled Studio Pierrot to come up with an anime series and season 1 was aired between July and September 2014. Season 2 came on popular demand between Jan. 8, 2015 and Mar. 26, 2015. An OVA (Original Video Animation) too was created and it was named as ''Tokyo Ghoul: JACK.'' Now the season 3 has been approved and according to when-will.net, it will be aired in 2016. As per the website, 22075 people are waiting for the season 3; however, the real number is much higher.
The fans who would like to watch the old seasons can login to My Anime list and view them. The voice of the protagonist Ken Kaneki was given by Yurie Kobori in Japanese. For the rest of the artists it was as follows: Touka Kirishima (by Brina Palencia in English and Sora Amamiya in Japanese), Koutarou Amon (Katsuyuki Konishi in Japanese and Mike McFarland in English) etc.
Shin Towada, the writer wrote this light novel series keeping the protagonist Ken Kaneki in mind. His first date with Rize Kamishiro was quite dangerous and he found himself in a hospital. Rize was a gohul and a surgery transforms Ken also into half-ghoul. This happened because some of the body parts of Rize were transplanted into him. So now, like other gohuls, Ken too has to eat human flesh to survive. From here the ordeal to fit into the world of gohuls and keep his identity hidden from humans starts. He is taken to a coffee shop "Anteiku" by other gohuls and they teach him the ways to survive in the world of gohuls.
14 tankōbon volumes were required to publish the main series ''Tokyo Gohul'' which was published between Feb. 17, 2012 and Oct. 17, 2014. The English translation started publishing from Jun. 18, 2015 and this popular series was translated in German by Kazé Manga and French by Glénat. The sequel ''Tokyo Ghoul:re.'' too has been published as 3 tankōbon volumes by Jun. 19, 2015. Till then watch one of the music scores from the anime series.
