A video posted on YouTube shows how Samsung Galaxy Note 7 unlocks itself through detection of a person's eyes using its iris scanner. The phone is unlocked in an instant that those who will come across the video will need to repeatedly play it in order to comprehend that an unlocking took place. Despite the fast detection, Samsung still listed a lot of disclaimer in case an inconsistency with its new feature takes place.
In the video, it can be clearly seen that the phablet's screen was split into two. One is for the iris scanner unlocking, while the other is for the traditional pin inputting. The said feature can be activated in the lock screen and security settings of the device's new UI.
Once the user reaches its settings, a long disclaimer pops up discussing several issues the user may encounter with the iris scanner. The disclaimer includes non-detection of user's iris when he is wearing any form of eyewear such as sunglasses, eyeglasses, contact lenses and the like, Android Authority reported.
It has also given examples for undetectable irises for those who have undergone LASIK treatment, those who have puffy eyes which may cover some parts of their irises, when light is reflected on one's eyes, and the list goes on.
While it is only days away before Samsung launches its new phablet, rumored features continue to dominate the speculation list. And while new image leaks appeared a few days ago, the Galaxy Note 7's specifications are still unconfirmed.
These rumored specifications include a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage with an expandable memory via microSD card slot, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, Mashable reported.
Despite the clear images released, it is still unknown as of this writing if the Note 7 will be adapting the curved edge or the simple straight edge for its screen. Though both variants may be launched by the Korean-tech giant, some are expecting Samsung will only be launching one model.
