Amir Khan has been a long-time MMA fan though his success has so far been in the boxing ring. A cross-jump to the UFC may have gained more steam, following the British boxer’s Instagram poses with a UFC title belt.

Khan has been known to be oozing with confidence in anything he does. He showed it when he bucked the odds and faced Canelo Alvarez, something that resulted in a sixth round knockout last May, Sky Sports reported.

Despite the frightening ordeal, Khan is back on his feet though his return could be in the UFC scene. He has been taking shots at UFC flyweight champion Conor McGregor, following the footsteps of another boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather went to the extent of putting up a fake poster of fighting “The Notorious” which sent everyone into frenzy, ESPN reported. Nothing really went beyond that but Khan may be taking it to another level.

Khan did just that with his Instagram posts, posing with a UFC title inside the Octagon. The photos do send mixed signals. Being a fan, the images could be nothing more than satisfying his dream as a fan or a sign that he is serious about trying out MMA fighting.

The Briton bared that he would need only 12 months to train and compete at the highest level of the UFC. He claims that boxing is the best style for the MMA, even pointing out that 13-second knockout McGregor did to Jose Aldo at UFC 194, Bloody Elbow reported.

A possible UFC match will, however, depend on Dana White. Right now the chances of that happening don’t seem too great. The UFC president is likely to approach it in the same way he did with Mayweather, citing that the UFC and boxing are entirely different sports, ESPN reported.

For his part, McGregor has better things to worry about. He is set to face Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on Aug. 20 as the Irishman tries to even the score with the same person who dealt him his only loss in the UFC so far.
