The popular time-traveling teen drama video game "Life is Strange" will be getting a live-action adaptation. Game developer DontNod entertainment revealed that it will be a digital series.
Legendary Digital Studios senior vice president of development and production Greg Siegel announced on their official website that they will be partnering with Square Enix and dJ2, to make the award winning episodic video game into a live-action adaptation. It will be based on its first season.
dj2 Entertainment producers Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will be developing and producing the live action digital series. They have recently produced the upcoming film "Sonic the Hedgehog" film for Sony Pictures. Cory Lanier was the one who brought the video game into Legendary, and he will be the one to oversee the project with Siegel.
The video game's official Tumblr post revealed that it will be a digital series. The post indicated that it will adopt a TV show format for it, and pointed out that it has the imaginings of a live-action show. It somehow also indicated that the game developers might have little involvement in this digital series, since they do not have any other details to share.
Siegel said that this game is one of the rare ones that combine developed characters and storylines with a very engaging gameplay. He also said that they are excited to partner up with the game producer, the game developer, and dj2. They want to let a different audience to experience the world of Arcadia Bay in a new exciting way.
Square Enix VP brand and European Marketing Jon Brooke said that they are proud and excited to work with the digital studio for the live-action show. They also want to realize a new version of the video game's world with the complete cast, which has believable characters and memorable events.
The upcoming live-action digital series will follow the story of young photographer Max Caulfield, who discovers that she has the power to rewind back time. She discovers this while she tried saving her best friend Chloe Price. They investigate the mysterious disappearance of a fellow student Rachel Amber, and they also discover the dark side of their hometown Arcadia Bay.
Brooke also reminded everyone that the first episode of the video game is free to download on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Mac, and PC. He added that this is the perfect time to play or introduce it to a friend to its beautiful world.
