Avid fans of Freeform's hit drama "Pretty Little Liars" will see a familiar face joining the upcoming episodes of Season 7. Shane Coffey has reprised his role as Holden Strauss in the series.
Coffey's Holden character is set to return in the second half of "Pretty Little Liars" Season 7, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Loyal viewers of the show may recall that Coffey portrayed the role of Aria's (Lucy Hale) childhood friend and former love interest. The two characters' storyline was featured prominently during Season 2 of the series.
Holden previously helped to hide Aria's romance with Ezra (Ian Harding) by pretending to be in a relationship with Hale's character. The fake relationship has also helped to cover up Holden's martial arts activities despite his health problems.
It is still unclear if Coffey's return to "Pretty Little Liars" will mark a potential change in Aria's relationship with Ezra. Episode 5 of Season 7 titled "Along Comes Mary" that aired on July 19 has shown a scene between the Ezria couple where Ezra asked Aria to marry him. However, Aria's response remains a mystery given the cliffhanger ending.
Holden's upcoming appearance in Season 7 may be linked to the Ezria couple, as indicated in the same report. Coffey's character may also stand as a supportive friend to Aria following the marriage proposal. At this point, it is unclear if Hale's character will say "yes" to Harding's Ezra.
Meanwhile, episode 6 spoilers posted at TV Guide has hinted that Ezra may be faced with some tough times. Harding's character will have a difficult time dealing with an "awkward relationship." However, the details of the said situation were not disclosed.
In the upcoming episode 6 titled "Wanted: Dead or Alive," the Liars will also begin to doubt whether Elliot (Huw Collins) really died. The Rosewood ladies will start to have a hard time hiding the truth from the police. The police investigation will also pressure Hanna (Ashley Benson) to consider revealing their involvement in Elliot's death.
Viewers will also see another character murdered in the upcoming episode 6. However, the identity of the victim was not revealed. The episode's spoilers teased that the said character was killed for being part of the "wrong team."
