Canadian singer Justin Bieber has done a lot of mistakes in his young life that has either placed him in trouble with the law, or he was on the headlines for exposing again his body or being seen with different women in compromising position.
But it seems when it comes to politics, the 21-year-old makes lesser mistakes. TMZ reported that Bieber was offered $5 million to sing for only 45 minutes at the Republican National Convention (RNC) but the singer rejected the offer. The venue was supposed to be near Quicken Loans Arena where the RNC would take place.
Bieber was assured the event was not political and he would not endorse GOP candidate Donald Trump or any Republican policies. It would have been easy money, and Bieber was actually considering accepting the offer, his biggest to date, TMZ cited its sources from CAA, the talent agency which handles the young singer. Being Canadian, he does not have to vote after all.
However, Scooter Braun, Bieber’s manager, reportedly threatened to resign if the singer accepted the offer. That’s because Braun is a big supporter of Democratic Party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Despite the assurance from the GOP people who approached Bieber, Braun and CAA believed it would be a political event.
Initially, Braun did not object to Bieber accepting the offer if he would be allowed to place Black Lives Matter banners on the venue. However, the donors who would pay the singer’s talent fee specified he could only place banners that state “All Lives Matter,” and Bieber could not say anything negative about Trump or the party.
Bieber was also told that LeBron James would be at the event, but LeBron not only denied he was going and even advised Bieber not to go, reported The Guardian. The singer’s band, made up of African-Americans, also opposed Bieber accepting the invitation which the singer heeded.
