It seems like the television series "Reign" will not be reigning in this fall's CW lineup, as "Reign" Season 4's premiere has been moved to an indefinite date.
According to TV Line, The CW's fall TV show line up bears no signs of "Reign" Season 4. While it features other TV shows such as "Supergirl" Season 2, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 and "Jane the Virgin" Season 3, which are all due to premiere in October, "Reign" Season 4 is only listed to have a midseason premiere with an indefinite date.
Along with this, Christian Times reported that the medieval TV show was rescheduled for a release in May 2017 instead. However, "Reign" Season 4 yet again encounters a problem with its new premiere date, as HBO's hit TV series "Game of Thrones" is also set to premiere on the said date, a TV show that has the incredible potential to steal "Reign's" viewers.
Due to the fact that both shows are set in the medieval era and features the same type of characters, both TV shows attract the same population demographic. Although "Reign" is loosely based on historical accounts while "Game of Thrones" is purely fiction, recent rating reports show that "Game of Thrones" acquires a higher viewership ratings.
Thus, should "Reign" premiere around the same time as "Game of Thrones" and competes with the said show for viewership, chances are "Reign" will see a significant drop in ratings, which might be dangerous for the show. Recent reports have revealed that the TV series was close to being cancelled, so a strategic postponement of the premiere to late 2017 seems to be a better option than losing the show altogether.
In the midst of cancellation and postponement rumors, the "Reign" cast continues to grow for its fourth season comeback. Joining the "Reign" Season 4 cast is "East Enders" alum Adam Croasdell, playing the role of Broadwell, Queen Mary's (Adelaide Kane) third husband. The actor is set to be seen in three episodes, as his character is described as a "warm-hearted" yet a bit rebellious, with a deep loyalty and love for Mary.
With Will Kemp playing the role of Lord Darnley, Mary's second husband, it will be interesting to witness how Broadwell will win Mary's heart.
