Golden State Warriors and Team USA power forward Draymond Green has made a number of headlines this summer - for the wrong reasons. Green issued another public apology Sunday after his latest blunder which was shared on social media.
This latest slip-up was Green sharing a photo of his penis publicly on his Snapchat account. The photo was published for about 10 minutes before he realized his error and deleted the picture. At first, Green claimed via Twitter that he was hacked. However, the Warriors forward later confessed to Yahoo Sports that he was the one that made a mistake. Green said he "hit the wrong button" and that it the photo was "meant to be a private message."
Two weeks ago, Green apologized after he was arrested in Michigan for allegedly slapping former Michigan State cornerback Jermaine Edmondson at a bar. Prior to that, during the NBA Finals, Green was suspended for the pivotal Game Five (with his team up 3-1 in the series) because of an accumulation of flagrant foul points, the last of which came when he hit Cavaliers forward LeBron James in the groin. Notable acts in the playoffs also included his throw of Rockets forward Michael Beasley and his kick to the groin of Thunder center Steven Adams.
Green, in an interview with reporters after a Team USA practice, refused to dwell negatively on his latest gaffe and instead chose to focus positively on his current situation. He noted that he's in a "great position" in his life while "living his dreams" and "playing in the Olympics," according to a report by Calvin Watkins of ESPN. He also said that this latest situation will help him "learn and move on."
The Team USA forward has been using Snapchat lately during the USA team's build-up to the Rio Olympics. He recorded teammates like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins and Paul George while they were dozing off, and also recorded Jimmy Butler and Irving singing.
On Sunday, prior to their practice, USA Basketball head Jerry Colangelo was seen speaking to the power forward while presumably discussing this latest error, which could likely be an unwarranted distraction for Green and the national team he represents.
