Lead stars Kim Woo Bin, 27, and Bae Suzy, 21, will be attending the "Uncontrollably Fond" fan meeting in China. In the on-going KBS 2TV drama, the stars play Shin Joon-Young and No Eul, respectively.
"Uncontrollably Fond" will hold its first fan meeting event in Beijing, China, on Aug. 6, All K-pop reported. Much to the delight of the fans, the drama's lead stars Kim and Suzy are expected to perform various games and activities.
According to the news outlet, numerous Chinese fans have been requesting for a fan meeting with the show's lead stars since the first episode of "Uncontrollably Fond" aired. The upcoming event marks Suzy's first fan meet in China as a solo actress. More details about the event will be revealed soon.
The 20-episode drama follows a couple, Shin Joon Young and No Eul, who got separated during their teenage years because of a disastrous relationship. The two characters are now a top celebrity and a documentary producer, respectively.
Following quite a long while, the two reunite when No Eul was tasked to film Shin Joon Young's documentary. As they start working on a documentary together, the latter then plans to win her heart back.
Co-produced by Samhwa Networks and SidusHQ, "Uncontrollably Fond" premiered on July 6 with a nationwide viewership rating of 13.8 percent. In China, the drama pulled in more than 40 million viewers in one of biggest online video platforms in the country, Youku Tudou.
"On the first day of broadcast, there was an overflow of traffic and the server of Youku crashed," an official from the drama's PR Company, 3HW, told Yonhap News Agency. "Also, real-time replies from viewers flooded the site to the point that they even interfered with the screen."
"Uncontrollably Fond" has reportedly taken over "Descendants of the Sun" spot as the most extensively distributed Korean TV series in China. It was reported that the 20-episode drama has been sold for $400,000 per episode, totaling to $8,000 million.
The drama's hefty distribution price is ascribed to the lead stars tremendous prominence in China. It is said that Kim has been popular in the country after he starred as Choi Young-Do in 2013's "The Heirs," while Suzy has an apparent wide reputation as a member of the South Korean-Chinese girl group, Miss A.
