The search engine giant Google is scheduled to launch the "YouTube Kids" app on Feb. 23, Monday, at the Kidscreen Summit and will be free for Android users.
Google will be launching today the child-friendly application and will be released by YouTube's Executive Malik Ducard at the said event, the Online News Heard Now reported.
The site reported that "YouTube Kids" app has icons on the home screen, which includes, binoculars to search videos, light bulk for education program, radio for music videos and TV set for popular programs.
The "YouTube Kids" app offers a parental control features, that allows parents to limit their children in using the app. It has a timer and once it is off it will automatically shut down and required a password to open, which only the parent knows about it. If the child attempts to search an adult content on the app, a message will appear saying "try something else" on the screen.
Moreover, according to PC Mag, the app will feature content from DreamWorks TV, Jim Henson, Mother Goose Club and National Geographic Kids. Other line-up shows that will be available is the "Reading Rainbow" of LeVar Burton, "Sesame Street" "Thomas the Tank Engine," "Yo Gabba Gabba," and "Talking Tom and Friends."
"We want kids of all ages - and their grownups - to enjoy our playlists and spark their curiosity to go out in the world and learn more," said Michel Sullivan the Vice President of Digital at National Geographic Kid's on the report of PC Mag.
The "YouTube Kids" app is owned by Google and will be free to download for Android users in the United States while as of this writing, there is no information yet if the said application will be free to other platforms and to other countries.
