BLACKPINK has finally made its public performance on Aug. 9. The group's first performance has been live streamed on NAVER app.
BLACKPINK, which is composed of four women members, namely Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé, has introduced their new album called "Square One". They have also debuted two music videos, '붐바야' (BOOMBAYAH) and "Whistle" as title tracks of their album.
In a Soompi report, the girls shared their feelings about their debut during the V-live showcase.
Rosé wanted to show everyone how hard they worked for their debut; while, Jennie added how they will try their best to create "BLACKPINK's own color". In addition, Jisoo echoed the group's feeling of nervousness since it's their first time and Lisa expressed how she's happy to have trained and debuted altogether.
YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun Suk also revealed they "did not try too hard to create a difference between BLACKPINK and 2NE1". For him, they had the same formula when they formed 2NE1 which was focused on making a unique sound or YG music.
The entertainment agency's founder also had a response regarding BLACKPINK's delayed debut.
"If you saw BLACKPINK four years ago, you would still say that they were really good. But in the end, team harmony is the most important. I think right now BIGBANG members have a great team harmony. When we first started BLACKPINK, there were a lot of members involved. Some members left, while others remained as trainees. As I thought over it a lot, I decided on these specific members," according to Yang in the abovementioned Soompi report.
He also added the group has no appointed leader. For Yang, this is just impossible since they have been friends for so long and that all four of them can be leaders.
As he explained in an allkpop report, "There were many groups that YG birthed, and we decided to go without a leader for BLACKPINK. The group never had a leader from the get-go. Because the four of them spent such a long time together, whenever a project is suggested to them, they discuss it together for the results."
In other news, entertainment website allkpop has learned that the group's first album has topped the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart just a day after its release. Yesterday's chart has revealed BLACKPINK's "Square One" has placed first among 15 other world-renowned albums including B.A.P on the 15th spot.
