Netizens worldwide reacted when rumours that "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson was dating the United Kingdom's Prince Harry hit the Internet. However, Watson may have quashed these rumors with a single tweet.
On Feb. 16 Woman's Day published a report saying the "Perks of a Wallflower" star and the British Royal were "having secret dates with each other and are getting to know each other quite well." The magazine also provided details on how Prince Harry allegedly approached Emma through friends and sent her a message stating he would "like to get to know her."
According to reports, the Royal Family has yet to address the news.
Fans, on the other hand, were elated over the rumor, and most hoped it would turn out to be true. However, Emma may have stifled those dreams on Feb. 23, Sunday, by tweeting, "WORLD, Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?!"
Prior to this, Watson was reported to have broken up with boyfriend Matthew Janney, a rugby player for Oxford University. She has also gathered a wide following in the past months for her work with the United Nations in advocating gender equality and women's rights.
She may have also used the rumors to pull attention to her advocacy. In a follow up tweet, Watson wrote that marrying a prince was not "a prerequisite for being a Princess" and linked it to a clip of the 1995 movie "A Little Princess," where the main character states all girls are princesses.
