Brazil nailed the Olympic opening ceremony at Rio yesterday as the country's supermodel Gisele Bündchen gave a stunning catwalk amidst loud cheer and danced with complete glee, joining the other performers and volunteers.
Sporting a sparkling silver gown with thigh-high slit, the leggy model was a complete delight to watch as she did the longest catwalk of her life. The background music of bossa nova jazz classic added to the patriotic warmth and she seemed completely on cloud nine as she paid tribute to her native country, E! News reported.
This historical event is definitely going to be remembered for her catwalk and she will also cherish the milestone. Notably, she had posted a message on Instagram, prior to the ceremony, in which she had said that she would be walking down the longest runway she has ever been on and she would be sending out all her love and positivity in it. She also expressed her gratitude and said that she was honored and humbled to have been chosen to be part of the historic moment.
However, the catwalk was not the only thing that made everyone a fan of Bündchen. It was her carefree and cool dance that stole the thunder. After the catwalk, she got in the crowd and without any hesitation, began to rock like a crazy fan, yelling and jumping to the tunes and mouthing the lyrics. Seeing her dance with abandon was simply not expected and it must have warmed the cockles of every Brazilian's heart.
As for the ceremony, it was a simple yet impressive affair with 80,000 spectators present at the event. After some serious talk about global warming, came the turn of national parade, which looked like a colorful sartorial treat to the eyes, New York Times claims. Aqua, mint-green, yellow; it was like multiple rainbows had descended inside the auditorium and soon it turned into a celebration of brotherhood and universal love.
All the athletes came together to give out the message of love and unity, ushering in Rio Olympics 2016 with the spirit of commonality that is at the root of this age-old glorious sporting tradition.
