Apple has recently released the iOS 9.3.4 update and it could make Pangu's iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak obsolete if the iPhone or iPad does download the patch but a small tweak can prevent the auto download.
Pangu has rolled out the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak tool after they have demonstrated the iOS 10 jailbreak in a recent public event. However, most people were waiting for the iOS 9.3.2 jailbreak which seems to be a moot point now that there are new updates including the upcoming iOS 10 major version.
The Cupertino-based tech giant released the iOS 9.3.4 update with a "security update" that is not clearly stated as to what vulnerability it fixes. Apple's description of the security update from the iOS 9.3.4 does give a hint that it is designed to fix the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak exploit that Pangu used, Forbes has learned.
Updating to the new iOS 9.3.4 will wipe the jailbreak status of iOS 9.3.3 and it will be another several weeks before Pangu, Taig and the jailbreaking community can come up with a tool. In addition, there is still no iOS 9.3.2 jailbreak tool in sight especially as the iOS 10 update is due soon.
People who do not want to update to iOS 9.3.4 should download the mikoto tweak on their iPhone or iPad with the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak from Pangu, Valuewalk reported. They can search for the mikoto tweak using Cydia and then install it.
After installing mikoto through Cydia, they should go to the preferences and toggle the Software Update Disabler option to on. It will prevent the automatic OTA iOS 9.3.4 firmware update from installing on the user's iPhone or iPad.
Once installed, mikoto will halt the iOS 9.3.4 official update from Apple. Users can rest easy knowing that their iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak will be protected and they will still be able to download all the third-party tweaks they like.
Pangu has not yet announced whether there will be an iOS 9.3.2 jailbreak but an iOS 10 jailbreak is expected once the official version rolls out in the fall. For now, users with iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak should stay away from the official iOS 9.3.4 patch.
