New details for "Tekken 7" will feature a possible crossplay for the PlayStation 4 Xbox One and PC versions, as wells as "Tekken X Street Fighter" will depend on the sequels success.
It seems that "Tekken 7" will feature a cross gameplay feature for "Tekken 7" as game designer Michael Murray tweeted that Microsoft is interested with the idea of a crossplay for the sequel after a Twitter fan asked him about it.
Game producer Katsuhiro Harada stated before the idea of having a crossplay features for "Tekken 7" is possible in a Reddit post, explaining that it will not be difficult to do so and it was on board for consideration by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
There are some steps in which game developers must discuss first before they make their decisions. First is that Sony and Microsoft must be willing to let that happen. While Microsoft is somewhat okay with the idea, Sony on the other hand is mum about it and it will not be long before the competitiveness cools off to benefit the players.
However, since Micorsoft announce the willingness to work for a cross-play for Xbox One on other platforms, Sony will make the final decision in making the gameplay feature possible.
The second concern will be the inclusion of the PC platform to the feature since Bandai Namco already confirmed a PC version for "Tekken 7". According to Harada, crossplay with PC is much easier than doing it in the consoles. But, it also presents a problem as cheaters can create loopholes that can ruin video game experience to the gamers. Harada stated that it will be up to the gaming community to decide if they want to go through with crossplay between both consoles and PC platform.
In other news, its seems that the developement of "Tekken X Street Fighter" may depend on the success of "Tekken 7".
Harada stated that the success of "Tekken 7" will jumpstart "Tekken X Street Fighter" as Capcom has been making tremendous effort into making "Street Fighter 5" a success in the market.
"Tekken 7" on the other hande, has been very popular in the arcades, thus in a business perspective it will not be a good idea to announce "Tekken X Street Fighter" yet and may have to do it soon, Attack of the Fanboy reported.
Bandai Namco stopped that development of "Tekken X Street Fighter" on April as it may fracture" the audiences of both fighting franchises. Harada added that the gamers who are loyal to both "Street Fighter" and "Tekken" have been proved difficult for them to announce a release date window for "Tekken X Street Fighter", and so it was decided that the crossover will be put "on hold" for now.
"Tekken 7" will launch in early 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One and the PC.
