Netflix's Internet Speed Test tool is live on Android and iOS. The tool that was launched back in May through Fast.com will help Netflix getting data of the internet providers who are doing a real bad job.
The FAST mobile app is readily available for the Android and iOS users for free. The app was recently announced through the Netflix technological blog to share information in this regard. There is a counter clock in grey that changes when the speed test is on and the result is given on Speedtest.
The app, once downloaded and installed, can be started as per the convenience of the users. It delivers accurate results and runs as quickly as possible. The app runs with the similar ultra-minimalistic vibe as the web version, Engadget reported.
Netflix launched the tool solely to make sure that users know the internet speed for using their apps and loading videos. The goal was to lead the user to a faster internet no matter if he is a Netflix subscriber or not.
While there are so many other internet speed testing apps, Netflix app is a new one which the servers are not aware of. Several internet providers have successfully dealt with other apps that check internet speed by changing their network setting. Netflix's Fast being a new speed testing tool may be a tad different.
While the web version was already available and people could use it without installing the app, it was not as fast as the Fast mobile app. The app will load sooner without hampering any of the other internet operations.
The app can take care of the internet speed while users are operating it. However, the number of windows open during the test will largely vary from one network to another. The app is designed to take care of the starting and ending time so that the result is delivered fast.
The FAST mobile app is a new addition to the company that is meant to deliver series and movies to where its subscribers want. The app will test download directly from Netflix's server so that the company will know the desirable speed for the usage.
